Hello Guyz!How can I install OS on a LAPTOP without CD Drive?

    Guyz, need help here.I dont know how to install an OS to my laptop..my combo drive is defective. I can use an external CD Drive,right? but my laptop right now has no OS, how can I make the laptop detect the external drive through USB by setting up the BIOS...?? pls help...

    It depends on the laptop. If it's from the previous century it probably can't boot from a USB device.

    I've installed various versions of Windows and Linux OSes without any problems using a USB DVD drive with my desktop (I don't have an internal CD/DVD drive).

    Which laptop is it?

    Hello Guys...My laptop is Compaq Presario R3000 and its COmbo drive is malfunctioned. How can I install the OS to my laptop if i dont have a CD drive.I tried external USB drive but it didnt detect...they said its because of the BIOS.I dont know,...pls help.
