Hi!

My Symantec AntiVirus program just sent me the following notification:

Scan type: Auto-Protect Scan
Event: Threat Found!
Threat: Downloader.Trojan
File: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsound3dd.dll
Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32
Computer: EMARSLAPTOP
User: Emar
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied
Date found: Saturday, April 04, 2009 4:08:21 PM

Do any of you know how I can remove this virus from my computer? Please help!

Thank you!

Scan logs re: Downloader.trojan; access denied

Hi, Spyder!

Thank you so much for your help. I have run the eight steps and have attached my logs to this post. Is my computer okay now that I've run those scans? Please let me know if there's anything else I need to do.

Thanks again for getting back to me! :)

My Symantec AntiVirus program just sent me the following notification:
Your Symantec Antivirus seems to have dematerialized :)

Anyway, I don't like Symantec anyway :D
Do this:

Run the Norton Removal tool

Run Startup Control Panel and remove any not required startups: (should be most!)

Install Avira free AntiVirus

Start up Malwarebytes again; Update it; then run a full scan (remove all found Malwares)
You need to run this multiple times, until all hidden Malwares are uncovered and removed

Hi Kimsland,

I know - isn't that odd? I tried to find the Symantec AntiVirus program to turn it off during the 8 steps that Spyder gave me, but I couldn't find the program even after running a search for it.

Thank you so much for your response! It's so great how helpful everyone is in this forum! :) I was really starting to panic yesterday. . .

I will take care of the below steps now.
