Help getting computer to come on

My son's computer was working fine last night, but today it doesn't want to come on. The activity light is staying on all the time (solid) but the computer itself isn't on. He's tried disconnecting all the wires to computer and monitor and replugging. When he pushes the power button, nothing happens. Any suggestions????

Unplug the modem/ethernet line, try to start in Safe Mode.

edit: After pulling the plug, press power button, open case and reset CMOS. Then try a boot to Safe Mode.
