POST ANOTHER LOG.YOU HAVE TO READ THE POSTS.OTHERWISE PEOPLE WILL GET ANNOYED.ESPECIALLY HOWARD.

Basically if his next HJT log is clean, he needs to start getting rid of programmes etc, in order to speed up his computer.

Regards Howard :)

Your log seems clean enough to me,but as Howard mentioned, you should get rid
of Norton and use Zone Alarm firewall and AVG anti-virus instead.
Make sure you download those before uninstalling Norton.
You must have a firewall at all times when on the internet.

Also use FIREFOX or OPERA instead of IE.

It would be a good idea to download CCLEANER .
After you have run it,go into the Tools/Start up and uncheck everything except
the firewall and the antivirus. You can always go back and recheck,a program
if you find that you need it to start with Windows.

The fewer programs running the better your computer will run.

Final point :BE CAREFUL what you click on,and what you download when your on the internet.

Your HJT log is clean.

Now in order to speed up your computer, do the following.

Go and download the free AVG antivirus programme and the free Zonealarm fire wall from HERE and HERE.

Now, disconnect from the internet and go to add remove programmes in your control panel.

Uninstall your Symantec/Norton programme. You will probably have to uninstall it in several pieces. Reboot after each uninstall. While you are there, uninstall anything else you don`t want or need. Reboot your computer and install Zonealarm, followed by AVG and reboot your computer again.

Reconnect to the net and run the AVG updates.

Then, click start/run and type msconfig into the run box and hit the enter key.

Click on the startup tab and untick(disable) anything you don`t want to start when Windows does. Click apply/ok. You will be prompted to restart your computer.

Onece your computer has restarted, you will see a window that says, you have used msconfig to make changes etc. Tick the little box that says not to run msconfig the next time you start your computer and click ok.

Download and run the Ccleaner programme from HERE.

Then, do a disk defrag, in fact run it twice for good measure.

Your system should now run a lot quicker.

Regards Howard :)

And for avioding future problems, use an anti-spyware program like Ad-Aware and Spybot, or even both. The professional version of Ad-Aware is pay-only but it comes with superb real-time protection. The free version has only the scanner.

i have 50+ processes running simultaneosly what should i end

hi i have a lot of processes running simultaneosly that make my pc go slower, every time i end one it prompts me saying that it could potentially damage my computer so im scared... what should i end??? heres a screenshot

I have merged your new thread into this one. Please don`t start any more threads on this subject. Thanks.

It`s no use just ending processes in your task manager, without knowing which programmes etc they belong to. They are obviously set to run on startup, so will just keep coming back.

If you do a Google search for the .exe files, you should be able to find out which programmes they belong to.

Then, if you don`t use them, either uninstall them from add remove programmes in your control panel, or stop them from running on startup by using msconfig.

I already said you should uninstall anything you don`t use or need.

I also told you how to use msconfig.

Regards Howard :)
