Help My Computer Is Scaring Me

Problem when starting up

When i start up my computer while it is still loading up my startup programs which consist of HotSync and 2 virus progams and bearshare, it will load all the programs or it will look like they are loaded and when i go to run any program it will give me the hour glass and arrow then go back to just the arrow and stop working it takes almost 15 min before it usually does anything and sometimes never does. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong with it? I have heard it could be the power supply but i would think that it wouldn't turn on at all if that were the case

The only advise I can give, is to either disable or uninstall bearshare.
And why do you always need Hotsync on? Only start that when you connect your Palm.
