Help! My crystal audio codec mixer won't function! I can't play any sound!

Hey guys and gals, I hope someone can help. I have onboard crystal audio sound and even after downloading the most current drivers the mixer won't function for what it states is "an unknown reason".

I've already removed all audio devices under safe mode and started from scratch, I still can't get it to work correctly.

just to let you all know, I'm running windows 98 SE and I have checked the bios to make sure it is set for onboard audio. My volume control is no longer in the system tray and it won't open through control panel.
