HELP PLs!!!! were does windows keep the product key in the registry??

    What exactly are you needing? are you wanting the product key(the one you entered when you installed)? Or do you need the Product ID(the one that windows makes up when you activate it)? If it is the former, I don't think you'll find it anywhere on the system. It is located on the booklet that came with the CD, or it may be on a sticker located on your case if your computer was purchased with XP already installed. The latter can be found by looking in system properties.

    The location of the key is here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and you should find it in the list of keys on the right-hand side. (Look for Product Key)
    Tat will be the same number that is located in system properties, and the same file that magicjellybean will find.
