:hotbounce - yep, that's me...hopping mad!
Not a great way to introduce myself but I need HELP!!
I have an HP with Windows XP Home - about 3 years old. I was saving pics off my digital camera a few weeks ago and poof - computer froze. I got that dreaded blue screen with the "Unmountable Boot Volume" stop error message...
Now, with a little help from friends, I have been able to start the Recovery Console procedure using the 6 floppy disks BUT after running chkdsk /r - I get that blasted AUTOCHK.exe could not be located blah blah blah.
I have TONS of stuff on that computer that I need to retrieve - a year's worth of family photos as well as documents from work etc. I cannot afford to lose all my files and must find a way to get in to retrieve that stuff.
Please, please, please...can anyone help???
I need some direction - in layman's terms - I am no computer whiz...and something that will work on my system.
I have read some of the thread about PTedit and Partition Magic and have no clue what any of this means...someone...help!!
Thanks a bunch - kat906!
Hopefully next time I'll look more like :grinthumb :giddy:
