Help Windows XP prob

Ok in the middle of playing a game comp freezes. Im thinking small glitch So i shut down and reboot. Screen goes blank right as windows is loading. I re re boot again same thing on the 3rd try I try loading safe mode again nada.
Fast forward 3 hours and much frustration. I decide to reformat and clean install. I boot from CD with windows xp cd in and it freezes at " setup is loading windows " message again I retry multiple times and nada.

I ended up takeing hd out and formatting it with 2nd comp putting it back in and trying to clean install that way again same problems it will not load windows setup it just freezes.

Strip the system down to the bare basics... remove all but 1 stick of memory, 1 hard drive, no add-in cards like network, USB, additional hard drive controllers, external devices and any AGP cards. Use on-board video or a PCI based video card. Reset the bios to failsafe defaults, and retry the Windows install
