Help with Dual Display Please!!!!

I have tried running a dual display recently as I play EVE Online a lot and want to do other stuff while it is going. I know that the game is fairly graphic intensive but i would have thought that with the specs of my PC it would not cause a problem but as soon as I enable the second monitor everything just slows to a snails pace. The CPU runs at 100% in the task manager and as soon as I turn it off the game runs fine, and likewise, if I end the game the dual display runs fine.
Is it a case of I've got to live with it or buy a bigger PC? I really thought it this should be enough though???

Any advice would be highly appreciated!!!

Martin
