For starters, use your HJT log. For every O4 entry, consider its value to you. Go to those applications to control their appearance here. Tick them off the startup. Tick them off with respect to 'automatic updates'.

This type of entry is controlled by 'start menu' folders:O4 - Global Startup

Here is a tutorial for understanding O4 entries. Using their tool (located here) gives rating of its usefulness as a 'startup'.

Scan with HJT, tick & fix O14 -
    Code:
    O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.asus.com
