Help with microphone

I wasnt sure where this belonged but it seems to belong in the audio section so sorry if its in the wrong section
Couple of nights ago I was in a video conversation on windows live messenger
I could hear myself on the other persons speakers as i always have been able to as they have them pretty loud
The other night however we where just talking then suddenly there was this really loud noise coming from her speakers. She turned it down but it still made the noise and I looked at my volume on my mic and it was fully green. Now whenever we do the video conversation the same thing happens. She cannot hear me and all she hears instead is this really loud noise
I have the mic away from my speakers and she has her mic away from hers but it still does it
Any help would be much appreciated

If you could hear yourself on her speakers, her mike wasn't far enough from the speakers, even if it is now. The amp in her speakers might be blown.

Its only during a conversation this noise happens though
She can listen to music fine

I didnt check to see what my default audio input was
It got changed to a streo mixer from my mic for some weird reason

So you fixed the problem? If it was working fine one day and messed up the next u could always have done a system restore to the day it was working.

The settings changed themselves somehow in the audio settings
