Help with RAM or paging file issue

  1. My paging file seems to being used a lot more than i would expect. I use the computer for music production so it does get heavily worked at times but....

I understand that the paging file will only be utilised when the physical memory (RAM) is used up.

As i type this the Commit Charge is 328MB, i understand this to be the amount of memory necessary to operate the system. My page file usage is also 328MB. Does this mean the RAM is not being used at all ?
When i have my music production software running the page file is 1.50GB !

I recently re-installed when i upgraded to a dual core processor.

I have attached a pic of the task manager and virtual memory page.
My system specs are in my signature.

    any ideas ?

328mb is not a lot of ram. considering XP uses around 140mb for itself, this does not leave much. I suggest adding ram to at least 1gb.
read the upgrading ram guide in the guides forum first.
