Hesitation

If there is a better forum for what I am about to ask about, please tell me. However, while my system seems to be working just fine, something new has started re: accessing any web site. I double click on Microsoft Explorer or any link that I have saved to directly enter websites and there is a 10 to 15 second hesitation before the system gets into gear and begins showing the web page fill-in. Fill-in seems slower, too.

P4,3.8... 1 gig RAM... XP Pro... DSL via a ethernet to my wireless router...

Where should I begin? I have defraged. I have cleared temp files. Is this a Nimda worm?

you have the classic symptoms of a virus or a worm on your computer..

run a virus checker, then run spybot and ad-aware

Classic virus?

Sorry, I should have added to my original post that I ran Norton Anti-virus (after being certain it had all current definitions), Ad-aware and Spy Sweeper. I have not not Spybot. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try it. But so far nothing has shown up to be a problem.
