  1. Hi, my name is phil. I'm 57 and know just enough to be dangerous. Have been playing around with computers for the last 15 years or so. But have had no formal training and I still don't know what a thread is. I've seen it used in different contexts and this new use for it is kind of confusing.

    Hello and welcome Phil. :)

You'll get to grips with it very quickly, as the forum is very well laid out, with descriptions next to most subforums from the forum index page.

    Hi Phil

    Welcome to [IMG] :grinthumb

You can read how to post a new thread in this Guide.

Before posting you should read all the Posting Guidelines.

To access technical support you may go to the Forums.

Many users like to post system specs in their Profile.

System Specs are always helpful when you seek support, (see the first two suggestions).
And helpers may ask that you post some of your specs in your thread.

You can access many other online TechSpot guides Here.

    Enjoy your Stay :)
