Hi,
I was having trouble with cool.exe so I followed Howards steps for removal and now I have this log file which I think I post here? I'm no computer buff so some help with what I'm meant to do now would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Sam

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Download the Pocket Killbox programme from HERE. Extract it but don`t run it yet.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how here.> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {35163185-78A5-03C3-A039-032128817154} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ahgklqj.dll (file missing)

O2 - BHO: ST - {9394EDE7-C8B5-483E-8773-474BF36AF6E4} - C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\ST\01.03.0000.1005\en-xu\stmain.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kfjulyg.dll] C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\kfjulyg.dll,kzwhhuf

O9 - Extra button: Run IMVU - {d9288080-1baa-4bc4-9cf8-a92d743db949} - C:\Documents and Settings\Sally & Sam\Start Menu\Programs\IMVU\Run IMVU.lnk

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field and check the delete file on reboot button. press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, select no until you have finished inputting the files you want to delete, only then allow it to reboot and hopefully your files will now be deleted.

This is the filepath you need to enter into killbox.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kfjulyg.dll,kzwhhuf

Once your system has rebooted, turn system restore back on and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log and let me know if you`re still having problems.

New HijackThislog

Hey Howard,

Thankyou for responding to me, I followed your steps which were very clear and I think I've done everything right, I hope:) Here is the new HijackThis log. Just one question, if I turn system retore and hide files back on in normal mode, does that mean its also turned on in safe mode?

Thanks for your time mate

Fresh HJT log

Hey Howard,

Sorry if I didn't follow those instructions properly (I'm not computer savvy at all:) ). Heres that fresh HJT log for you. Upon reboot, after running kilbox my computer appears to be running smoother and quicker! Which is fantastic. Should I run Norton to see if it picks up on that original cool.exe file? Or is there another way to check for it? Anyway thanks again for all your help mate, you're a legend!

Sam

Your HJT log is now clean.

You can delete the killbox backups.

By all means run a full system scan with your antivirus programme and see if it find anything. This is best done from safe mode with system restore turned off.

Once done, reboot into normal mode and turn system restore back on.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

Regards Howard :)
