  1. Hi guys,

My parents had some major problems with their system and I think I have managed to get a hold of it. the one thing left is just a review of their HJ log, which to me looks quite Greek. Can anyone tell me if there was something I missed?

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

The system is still infected with several nasties.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

    Regards Howard

That was after all the steps from your link :)

The rootkit scan came up clean, since I am not at my parents I don't have the logs for the others. I was planning on reformatting their system regardless, I think the clincher was when you said:

"The system is still infected with several nasties."

    Thanks!

Reformatting will certainly get rid of the nasties and may even be easier in the long run.

    Regards Howard :)
