Ok, so I thought I could handle this myself, but I have been unable to rid myslef of ad popups. I have Firefox set as my default browser but about every three clicks on the internet I get Ad pop-up/unders in IE windows!!!

So I spent 3+ hours reading this forum. I downloaded

HijackThis 1.99.1
Spybot S&D (have been using this for a year or so w/ Teatimer)
Adaware Personal SE (also been using it for a year or so)
AdAware VX2 plug-in
CWshredder
CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller
AboutBuster

I updated all to get the latest dictionaries/descroption files etc.
AboutBust was never able to update. I get a "Critical Error - An Error Occured while Updating" But I wasn't able to update it from my uninfected computer either

So I booted into safe mode and ran
AboutBuster (nothing)
CWshrededr (nothing)
AdAware (full scan - couple of cookies)
Spybot (full scan - nothing)
Reboot to Safemode
AVG (full scan - nothing)
Reboot to Safemode
Ewido (full scan- 3 cookies)
Reboot to Safemode
Ran Hijackthis included the log

Cleaned my temp folders for all users including admin/default/networkservice/localservice

Ran LookToMe-Destroyer.exe but it never comes back up when I click "run as task" is just shuts off never to be heard from again. (Task Scheduler service is running)

but the kicker is, I have done all this before, several times. But as soon as I use a web browser I get pop-ups witing 30 seconds. And the longer I let it go without running an arsenal of anti-spyware at it the more stuff it installs, like "adintelligence" and vbana.exe.

thoughts? I really don't want to have to fdisk it out.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your HJT log is clean, apart from maybe, these entries.

Have HJT fix these entries.

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk.disabled

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.comcast.net Only fix this, if it doesn`t belong to your computer manufacturer or your ISP.

I don`t see a firewall in your log, unless i missed it.

Get Zonealarm free from HERE.
