  1. how do I alter the login screen?

    i recently saw someone who had altered some of the wording on the login screen in Windows XP. He was able to personalize it so it said "go away if you are not Shawn" in the place of "Welcome to Windows" or whatever. I have a feeling there is something in the registry that will let me do this, but where do I find it?

    another question - is there an easier way to install boot screens that what this guy suggests? here I haven't been able to find his DOD login screen, and I really want it. Does anyone have any ideas about how to do it w/o a special program or where I can get that screen?

    Hey again

    Easy:

    To customize the Windows Logon and Security Dialog Title:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "Welcome"="Text2Display"

    To change the Message Shown on the Logon Box:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "LogonPrompt"="Text2Display"

    Regards

    I like it. Now, how can I get my own screen in there, using the registry?

    Not Simple

    You can't replace the graphics easily as they are imbedded into a program. It requires an edit or replacement of an exe file called logonui.exe. If you are feeling adventurous see: http://theonegreatx.com/?p=10
