    Hello ? Techspot.

    I have a simple question.
Yesterday, I bought "Western Digital 320GB My Book Essential Edition 2.0 External Hard Drive"

The problem is, it was format in Fat. I want to format it as NTSF.
But Inside hard drive, there are software that came with.
If I am going to format hard drive into NTSF, what will happened my 1 year warrenty ? Is that OK ? And Can I get All the software in Western Digital Web site ?

It will be ok for you to copy the files onto your internal hard drive and copy them back after. If you go into My Computer (or Computer in Vista) then right click on the drive, click Copy, and click Paste in your desktop.

Then go back to My Computer and format the drive to NTFS, then open up the folder with the same name as the drive on your desktop, and copy all the files back :) Then you can delete the folder from your desktop.

I don't think that it will affect your warranty but you should check the WD site for that.
