How do you disable cache on an Inspiron 1100?

  1. I had read a thread on here about how to fix a problem with one of the Dell errors; it had said that I needed to disable cache, run the scan disk, and then enable cache again and that should fix the problem. However, I have looked through my BIOS and have the information where it tells ABOUT the cache but have been unable to find out how to disable it. I am not REAL computer savvy, but I know enough to get myself into trouble, or so I've been told; so I'd like a little info on this if anybody happens to know.

You do not disable cache, you disable system restore under System, Advanced

    How do I get there?

When I turn on my laptop I have to hit the F2 to get to the BIOS, is the system, advanced under that area? As you can tell i am "not too techi" but I can find just about anything, I just need to be directed. Or is this system recovery under system, advanced under something other than previously mentioned?
