How much of a diffrence from 1 stick sc to 2 dc

just a quick question I am building a pc for my g-kids and son/daughter-in-law
for christmas, I want him to be able to play BF2 with me so I am building a gamer/surfer, not a super gamer but a decent one, the mobo has dual or single channel ram support, I got a great deal on a 1 gig stick of pc2700
2.5 cl now my question is will he still get the same preformance that he would of if I had got 2 sticks of 512?and set it on dual channel, as he will with 1 stick using single channel, either way he still has 1024 mb of ram.

On intel systems dual channel makes more difference in performance. So, 2x512mb would be faster, but 1 x1gb will work fine. You could get another 1gb stick and have dual channel and 2gb(I hear bf2 is a ram hog), and then it would be pretty good.
