How to connect to ICQ chat with IRC client

Hey. How do I connect to ICQ chat with an IRC client? Apparently with Windows Vista the java applet isn't working anymore for ICQ chat.

I've never used IRC before. Please help. ^^

"And then some" is right. Wow. That's like giving an anatomy compendium to a 4 year old when he asks "What's a heart?" TOO MUCH INFO.

Can you not just tell me what I do? I have Chatzilla for Firefox. I try "irc://icq.com/icqchat" or "irc.icq.com" in the location bar and the first one opens Chatzilla and does nothing, the second one just brings me to the Java Applet on the ICQ website. What do I have to do to connect through Chatzilla to IrCQ chat? I also have X-chat if you're not familiar with Chatzilla. What do I do?!

There you should be able to find developers of chatzilla and ask questions

I think you can launch Xchat

pick your nickname

select a network and select connect

Then you need to join a channel - go to server -> join channel

if you don't know your channel go to -> window -> channel list -> refresh the list

just look for the #icq channel

Ok. So I stupidly was doing either "irc.icq.com" in the location bar or "irc://icq.com", as I said in my second post.. It should have been "irc://irc.icq.com". I think I'm connected now.

Thank you for your help. I didn't really know how to put the address together so that's why I wasn't connecting.
