How to get rid of trojan generic2

Hello again Howard,

The TrojanHorseDownloader Zlob DG appeared on my laptop in my AVG check tonight. I've installed the Kerio firewall and run everything else as instructed. (Except the 4 tools, each of which was blocked by KDR --could that be the Kerio firewall? I couldn't figure out how to get them to work.) I am attaching the HJT log but the AVG scan, which found over 1000 entries, was apparantly too large for the site, so I can't upload it.

I thought I was done, but alas, I guess not. Thanks so much Howard for your suggestions. I'm a bit weary but grateful.

Just a follow-up to let you know that I've deleted all the temporary internet files and cookies on the laptop, which took quite a long time. They were all on my son's screen name, and this had probably never been done before. Maybe I should run another AVG antispyware scan tomorrow in safe mode etc. ?

You`re running an outdated version of HJT. Please download the latest version as per these instructions HERE.

If Kerio is blocking the four tools, you should temporarily disable Kerio until you have run them. Then, re-enable Kerio.

Please attach fresh HJT and AVG Antispyware logs, only after doing the above.

Regards Howard :)

New HJT scan ready to be checked

Howard,

I went through this computer and deleted all Temporary Internet Files and all cookies, so the AntiSpyware had an easy time of it and found absolutely nothing-- instead of the 1,027 traces that it slogged through last night. All other scans are clean. Except for the Trojan Horse Downloader Zlob DG, which I have not yet deleted from the AVG Virus Vault. HJT scan attached.

What's next?
Thanks,
Joan

Your HJT log is clean.

Delete the file in AVG`s virus vault.

Then run a fresh AVG antivirus scan and see if it picks anything up.

If it doesn`t, you`re good to go.

All clean. Do you think that AVG picked it up right away, so that it didn't get into my system? If so, that's good.

That`s what it sounds like and that`s what AVG is supposed to do ;)
