How to identify your webcam (and then find its driver)

"Final" followup on the SN9C201.This post is to try to help people evaluate
whether they wish to try to do anything with the Sonix site.
I did register with Sonix, and did a site search for the driver.

One of four links returned MAY have lead to a download if you could read the site.
The site was in Taiwan,
and the information posted was all in what appears to be Chinese characters.

One link was back to the user registration page.

One link was to a guided search, which was fruitless.

One of the links was to a page of data sheets;
of these, only the last (for SN9C325) had a link to a driver download.
I have not had a chance to investigate whether this driver might work with the other camera.
It appears the device id for this camera may be USB\VID_0C45&PID_612A.
This is NOT the same device string as for Giulia
I did notice, on another site, someone having a devil of a time trying to get the drivers to work for that SN9C325 camera.

Since I had found the page of datasheets, without registering,
I would suggest that you NOT register with Sonix.
It took a couple of days, and registering did nothing for me.
YMMV.

Edit - Addition
And today, I noticed my link to the UK site did not work for a while.
Seem just to have been having temporary difficulties.
Working again @ 3p Eastern Time.

Give THIS driver a shot. Unpack the download file and run the executable. If that doesn't work, tell me what version of Windows you're running. I have a more recent version / different driver download HERE as well.. But that 2nd download link I provided seems to contain multiple drivers and may take me a bit to figure out and then explain how to install which one you need

Thank you so much, works perfect now. Btw im using Win8, so I installed the one for win7 and it worked fine.

Thank you :)

Hello. I am urr-.. New to the forums, but I saw that you nice people help around. The thing is that, when I try to search drivers for my webcam as you showed, they aren't working for my webcam seems like, because my Windows 7 Ultimate says no drivers found. Appreciated if someone could help.

My IDs are the following;

USB\VID_17A1&PID_0128&REV_0100
USB\VID_17A1&PID_0128
USB2.0 JPEG WebCam. I have it since 2 years or so, and I was pretty happy with it. I decided to take it out after a year in a box, I don't think there is something with it so hopefully, we/you would be able to find drivers for it.

You might try those offered by LookinAround here.
At worst, they won't work and you uninstall them again.
They were offered for someone running XP.
I'll do some more checking too.

=====Followup Note=====
I have not used this site to get driver downloads, tho' LookinAround has.
They say their download works with Win7.
You must go thru the process of getting their identifier tool to get the download tho.
LookinAround can tell you more.

Please let us know your results.

Nope, the drivers didn't work..I mean-..They did work actually, but they are not for Windows 7 as I got that error, saying the drivers are not for the platform and they were not installed, even if the drivers are shown on the given window. So yeah, I won't be able to use my camera while I am on Windows 7 seems like. I am not good in installing older windows, because I am 13 (yeah, hah) and I know this and this but nothing more. So yeah, would be very appreciated if drivers for the given camera can be found for Windows 7 Ultimate.

Fantastix

Create a System Restore point first (to be safe and so you can also back this out)

Try the driver HERE. (I think it may be good with Windows 7 32 and 64bit)
1. Unzip Xpoint_webcam.zip into a folder on your Desktop
2. Look at the files in that folder, rt click cam1690.inf, select Install
3. Then plug your webcam into the USB port. You may need to reboot

Once your webcam is working, you can delete the Desktop folder (but save the .zip file if you should need it again)

Looks like a Sony PS3Eye.
Did not find a good download for drivers though.
Still looking.
LookinAround may beat me to it. He's the expert here.

---===>>> Edit Add #2 <<<===---
Alternatively, try this page...
Looks like this offers a different set of drivers,
with msi installers instead of the exe below.

This may work. There is also a youtube on this particular package.
I downloaded, and scanned it with Trend Micro Titanium, finding no threats.
I began the install, but did not want to complete it as I was not sure if it would interfere with my own webcam. I partly read the terms of use, and they imply that there may be a trial period, after which you may need to pay for this software.
If there is freeware, I have yet to find it. I'll keep looking.
Here is a guide... but the links there take you to a log-in page. I went no further.
Another page on the same driver.

Again, not sure that this is free-to-try or free.
I just did not go that far.
I hope it is helpful.

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I'll try anyway. So I got this webcam called iBoost (model 70180). It didn't manually download any drivers, neither is my computer recognizing it. I then googled the model number and found the driver. BUT when I did download it, it still does not show my webcam as a USB option. I followed the steps you suggested to find it under device manager, and it doesn't appear there either. Suggestions? Thanks! :)
