I have this webcam and I have no idea what type of model its is or what Brand it is? I do know the Hardware ID:

    Vid_093a&Pid_2468&Rev_0100
    Vid_093a&Pid_2468

I've looked throughout the whole thread and have found one response similar to mine but I still need some help.

There is a sticker on the back of my cam that says:
    DF040330224

I Googled it and it came up with 0 results.

BTW whenever I connect it to my computer, it recognizes it as a CIF Single Chip. IDK what that means.

    A physical description of it:

    Small/Micro webcam
    Silver-gray
    2 1/2 inches tall
    1 1/2 inch wide base
    1 inch wide body
    1/2 inch wide lens
Bottom has a sticky surface to cling to CPU.
    Regular USB cord

    @DrBarber

What version of Windows are you running?

I have a Windows XP. I used this cam before but when it crashed it got deleted. It used to work great and has a better res. than the one I have now.

OK. I see the download link in the old post is now dead :dead: Might take a day or two but will see if i can find another copy of that driver online.. and will post the results back here

fyi: a heads-up.. you might want to edit your prior post to remove your email as it will otherwise become prime target to be harvested by spam emailers and/or con- artists

Thank you so much. I was close to throwing this cam away 'til I found this site. I will edit right now.

    @DrBarber

    Give this a try.
    > Download here. Extract the zip file content to your desktop
    > Open the folder and double click to run file Mini 2_8.exe to start the installer
    > If you're prompted with a notice about Windows Logo testing click Continue Anyway

You might need to reboot after the install to get the cam to recognize the new driver

    Hi mikko7123

Try this driver here. There should be an option to download it for free by first responding to ads. (just keep looking at bottom right of each ad to say No THanks)
  9. mikko7123 Newcomer, in training

thanks for your quick reply but how do you download it? and is it for free?
  10. LookinAround TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 7,698   +40

Go to the site. Click the Download tab. Do you see an option Download this file by viewing a series of ads (no registration required)? That will let you download for free (after they show you about 6 ads. just say no thanks to each)

    /* edit */
Not sure, but this option might only be available for residents of US. let me know...
  11. mikko7123 Newcomer, in training

hmm.. i only see two options:

Download this file for $2.99 (US) via PayPal (no registration required)
Download this file + many more with Premium Plus 1-Year Membership - New Special Discount Offer, only $14.95!
  12. LookinAround TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 7,698   +40

OK. Then it sounds like that option is only available for the US. Give me a day or two but will get back to you. I'll post back to this thread

    Hi mikko7123

Ok. So you'll also find a copy of that driver here. HOWEVER, first please note
    > When you click to download it, it'll prompt you to first download/install the esnips downloader
    > You just need to be careful as, by default, esnips default will change your homepage and search engine
    > When you install esnips download, just notice the Advanced button on the install screen. Hit it then uncheck the two options allowing it to change your homepage and search engine
    > Once you have the driver you can uninstall the esnips downloader

    Hope this works for you!

Many thanks for the information on how to identify my web cam.Searched for USB\VID_093A&PID_2468\5&1441D543&0&1 and came up with an Indonesian site which gave 2 recommended downloads.I went with Media Tech and it worked fine on my PC without a webcam. My 2nd PC is using a Sony Eye toy and it was not possible to complete installation.
Surprising all these webcams are listed as "Single Chip Cif" but have completely different drivers.

    Hi seaweedsam!

Glad the guide could help! Re: Your 2nd PC you need to repeat the process to check its Hardware ID and search again.

Reason: Many of these differnt webcams may, in fact, use the same generic imaging chips inside. So the imaging chip makers assign their chips the same simple name "Single Chip Cif". Meaning that it's the Hardware IDs that really distinguishes the different chips apart and not the generic Device Description of "Single Chip Cif"

Download here. Unpack to your desktop. Run the Setup.exe file.

Please let me know if it worked (and tell me Windows OS you are running so then i also know which OS it (hopefully) worked for :) )

    Single chip CIF

I tried 3 times to install this software on my new PC Intel E8400 XP pro SP3 and currently working well with my old Sony Eyetoy which also has audio.I had to use system restore to remove the partial installation as "uninstall" would not work.
So as it works well on my older PC I am not pressed to use it on both.As these web cams are not expensive, next time I have a problem it might be as well to replace it.
Again, I am well pleased the help from this site.
