alright...so i love starcraft, but i can't access battle.net on campus. that's fine.

so i tried to play starcraft with my friend (we both have laptops) and use the direct cable connection option. still won't work.

i felt like a retard when i connected our computers with the cat5 cable...apparently i need a crossover cable (someone mentioned that to me).

i'm not entirely sure what to do, so the main question is: how can i play starcraft against my friend without connecting to battle.net or the internet? do i need a crossover cable? thanks for the help or reading.

yes you do need a crossover cable since its only two pcs and no hub/switch device between them. Connect both laptops together and run the windows network wizard so its got the same IP group and workgroup name and then just setup a new lan game and all should be good.
