How to remove write prot dead software (foxit reader)

I have XP. I would like to use a reader other than foxit. I don't like it (my choice, the screen is far too busy). I can't unstall it or remove it as the default viewer as the software says it's already uninstalled even though it still opens. I can't remove the foxit files as I don't have permission to remove the write protect. I am logged in as administrator. Any ideas?

Re-install and then try un-installing again. Sometimes this will help in this type of circumstance.
