How to resize a (manmade) FUBAR'd C drive

Some years ago I created a C and D partitions on a small (6 GB) harddrive on an older IBM ThinkPad that runs W98 SE. I made the D drive much bigger than the C drive. Now the C drive is out of space. In an attempt to reclaim some space to the C drive, and using Partition Magic 4.0, I deleted the D drive. Now I have a 2.9 GB C drive and a ton of free space I would like to allocate back to the C drive.

Loss of data on the laptop is no problem. I tried reformatting C drive thinking it would see and use all its physical space. No such luck.

How can I kill off the free space and end up with a full size C drive onto which I can reinstall W98?

Thanks.

Download a Win98 boot disk from bootdisk.com. Use it to run FDisk and delete both partitions.
Then have FDisk create a primary partition using 100% of available space.
Re-boot to A: and format C: and you should be good to go.

patio.
