how to watch dvd

i have a dvd rom, but how come neither my windows media or real player can open the movie?? can someone help me?

Windows media player can play DVDs (unless you are running an older version).

Try upgrading to windows media player 10, or if you want software which was made just for usage for watching dvds on the computer use cyberlink power dvd. in any case a dvd drive, should come with some software unless its crap.
