I'm working on an HP envy touchsmart. At first the battery would not charge when the computer was turned on. It did not recognise that the charger was plugged in. The laptop would charge to full power with the laptop off. So I thought maybe it was the wrong charger. So I bought an HP replacement charger and had the same issue.
My next thought was the battery was going bad and bought a replacement for it. The problem continued.
I tried to do a reset of windows 10 but it would not let me because it had to be plugged in. So I went to the device manager and disabled the ACPI Compliant. When I did that the screen got brighter as if it was plugged in.
I tried the win 10 reset and it let me do it.
Now the battery will charge to 10 percent and says plugged in not charging. Drops down to 9 percent and charges back to 10.
Any advice would be so grateful. This laptop is making me very angry.
