Hp ScanJet 3970 bad scanned image

I have an hp scan jet 3970 that was working fine. This days its scanned image output becomes filled with green stain and the image lights become too bright. It is hard to identify the image. I didn't change any of its default settings (its default resolution is 200 dpi).
Any one has any idea I would be very happy to have it, please help!

Always uninstall the program and drivers and install them again. If that doesn't work then the scanner is probably shot. Also, raise the resolution.

I have even installed the driver in another win xp computer and tried the scanner. The problem was still same! Setting up the resolution gave no solution.

I am looking for more ideas !
