Hyperthreading causing freeze under high stress

  1. specs:
    intel p4 3.0 HT
    2gig TwinMOS RAM
    Radeon 9600XT 256mb
    XPpro corp

Anytime i have Hyperthreading on it freezes during games, like doom3 HL2 and Kotor. These specs should have no problem with the stress. When i turn OFF ht, then everything runs fine, if not a bit slower. Any ideas?

    A BIOS update?

Also check for heat problems. More CPU is utilised with HT on therefore generating more heat.

    Intel has noted this issue
hyperthreading does not work well with imaging and video apps
in tests it actual slows the system down
your better off just disabling it in bios
    try it you'll see
