I cannot access anything but my documents

I have just recieved a laptop from a friend and he told me he cannot do anything with it so he gave me it. Now as far as I can tell there are two accounts. One of them is a user the other is an admin. He told me he could only log in as the user. (He never knew the admin pass.) For whatever reason there are HUGE restrictions on this thing. I can't access the C Drive, Control Panel, most .exe files don't work either. The only things that I CAN access are My Documents and the Desktop. Is there anyway I can run .exe files without finding out the admin pass?

what OS and service pack are you running. is the computer on a domain? you can try booting into safe mode if you have w2k or higher and logging in as administrator, which should work with no password if there isn't one installed.
