I cannot install xp. please help

Hi first time here so i hope im posting this in correct place. i am a novice on pcs and have managed to ruin my brothers by downloading all sorts of rubbish. i have reinitialized it but keep getting ...............Error loading operating system........... message after trying to reinstall xp. i visited site and read an answer from howard to bettyboo on subject and followed advice ( go to bios 1st boot from floppy 2nd cdrom etc....) but to no avail. My brother is none to happy...does anyone have any other advice or suggestions?...i hope somebody can help. yours gratefully, longchalk

Did you try to fix Windows or did you repartition, reformat and reinstall? I have never been able to make a Windows fix attempt work, but there are a bunch of utilities on your Windows install disk that can help you fix Windows I just don't know how to use them.

reformat and reinstall and now i cant get windows to run!!! i was thinking (hoping) perhaps something in bios needed changing
