I know a little bit about overclocking processors so im not a total dumb *** but i still cant get my AMD 64 3000+ to overclock even 1%, the computer just reboots. I had my friend who has his 3000+ running at 2.3Ghz to come and look at it and he says he doesnt know why the computer is not stable. He said it might be the power supply becasue although i have a 420, its a pretty generic brand one.

Here are the specs of my CPU (from CPU-Z):
Name: AMD athlon 64 3000+
Code Name: Venice
Package: Socket 939
Voltage:~1.47
core speed: ~1.8 Ghz
Multiplyer: x0.9x
HTT: 201.0 Mhz

Cache

L1 Data: 64kbytes
L1 code: 64kbytes
Level 2: 512 kbytes

MEMORY SPECS:
Type: DDR-SDRAM
SIZE: 1024MB
Frequency: 201.0 Mhz
CAS # Latency: 2.5 clocks
Ras# to CAS# delay : 3 clocks
RAS# precharge: 3 clocks
Cycle time: 8 clocks

Im am using Phenoix Bios with an MSI Neo4 motherboard.

Someone please help me out...

Thanks, nick

Does that board have a PCI/AGP lock? If not when you raise the FSB you also OC the AGP and PCI slots and that can cause problems. Have you tried to raise the processor voltage? You might also try changing the CAS to 3.0. There could also be a fault in the motherboard,

Yes i have tried to raise the processor voltage...and it stilsl woundnt boot. The FSB i changed, but i also changed the ram FSB which i read that if it was the same or higher your computer should boot with an FSB change, but i never tried OC the PCI slots

I will see what changing the CAS To 3 will do

(My mother boards is PCI-E)
