I received pictures with rar after name of file, I could not open them. I down loaded 7 zip through RARLAB winRAR. I still cannot open the pictures, but WORSE, now I am unable to use Adobe to work on any pictures. what do I need to do ? Thank you

Hi, Can you open any .jpeg files in Adobe photoshop?
Does it open any normal photos taken with a camera?
Also if you find any photo on your computer, right click and choose 'open with', which choices do you see? Is it possible that you might have changed the file association from .jpg to .RAR? ( So do all your photos gave a .jpg after the filename, or something else, as this might be very easy to sort out.)

RAR files are 'archives' like ZIP, TAR and TGZ - - they can contain multiple files and whole directory contents.
Typically, rar files are created on Linux platforms, so the content may or may not be usable on a pc.
Winzip and 7-Zip software may be helpful in opening these files with a GUI view of the content.
