    hey all of the sudden this little space popped up in the system tray. when i roll over it it reads mirc. i do not have irc on my computer. i know this is a bad thing!!! i just cant delete it. i an right click on it and click on exit and it does but the it starts back up again. can someone please read the hijackthis log that i have attached. and possible explain to me what goes into reading and understanding a log. is it just basically understanding what should be there and what shouldnt. ok.

    I do:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxdll\svchost.exe

    Fix this in safe mode:

    F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxdll\svchost.exe

    As far as I know, your home directory (In this case C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator) shouldn't have "Windows" subdirectory at all. Reboot to safe mode and delete it.

    Your system is infected with a few nasties.

    Go HERE and follow the instructions exactly.

    Post fresh HJT and Ewido logs, only after doing the above.
