Icons in "My Computer"

How do I remove icons from my computer? For some reason 3 icons have appeared for backup files and I wanted to delete them but there doesn't appear to be an easy way to do it.

rightclick 'em, select Delete and confirm.
However, those are probably FILES. If you want to keep them, go into Explorer, then to
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Desktop
and cut/paste or move them to their final destination.

Thanks for the reply Real but it doesn't work, there is no delete option when you right click. I tried many options in explorer but to no avail.
P.S. the machine is running Win XP.

What does it say when you rightclick them and select Properties?
