got a gigabyte ga-n7v400 pro with 4 ide channels and two sata. gigaraid and sataraid (blahblah blah). already have 2 hds on ide1. two dvd drives on ide2. wanted to hook up a dvd burner on ide3 but its not working. it doesnt show up in bios or in windows.

Do you have the raid drivers loaded? you should have a disk to load the raid drivers at boot up.

actually i have my gigaraid and sata chips disabled cause i always get this long *** delay at bootup because its trying to find devices. to be honest i have no clue what gigaraid does (i think it combines two hds to act as one...). let me know if i should activate them or not. much thanks.

got it to work. i enabled the chips, just have to endure painfully slow ide scan. set the gigaraid chip to ata not raid. should i change it back to raid or is ata right. thanks
