I just buy a new Gateway 7200 computer. It came with 160 gig hard drive.
I had a 160 gig hard drive from my old Gateway, but it IDE. The new computer hard drive is S-ATA. I buy SATAT adapter, but my new computer do not recognize the old hard drive, and the windows not even start. Please can anyone help me and show me what I have to do to get my old hard drive work in my new computer. I don't known much about computer, so please show me step by step, I really appreciate.

My guess is to purchase a pata ide pci adaptor and run the old drive off of it, not using the sata adapter on the drive will set you straight.
