IE plugins

So what are some good programs that I can use to track what progams or plug-ins are using my internet connection (aka not listed in the task manager).that could be bogging down my already slow connection? looking mainly for adware,spyware and hijackers none of my scanners can make a full scan without rebooting the computer (somthings hinding in here) I can do antivirus scan but spybot and come others are crashing and rebooting system and microsoft error reporting says "its a device driver" the error log as been of no help either as it always pionts to a (earthlink mailbox) update error.
this one is making me consider a reinstall of XP to clean it.

For the love of god, please stop using Internet Explorer. Use Firefox. IE is broken.

yea I've got fox 1.5 but the way I have it setup it confuses my wife (to many buttons for her) :giddy:

yea but that does not help the damage that has already happend and I hate to have to reinstall everything after a OS reinstall so is there any thing I can use to trace the offending program?
