IE6 Service Pack 2 - No more access to net

After installing Service Pack 2, I can no longer use Internet Explorer to access the internet at all. Attempted a system restore to a previous time when it was working fine, get message that a newer version of Internet Explorer is installed.

I just reformatted this hard drive two weeks ago, due to issues with my ISP hacking my system and a virus being located after I ran AVG Free, Symantec Corporate Edition, AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy, etc.

I really don't want to re-install all of my files as I use this system for work related reasons and it is time consuming. Took me an entire weekend to restore all of my files that were necessary.

Can someone suggest something else to try. I am seriously frustrated and have tried the Microsoft site for suggestions alas nothing there.

As a temporary measure, try Firefox and/or Opera.

You can uninstall IE as per M$-instructions here:

or go more drastic and use the tools here:

Use Firefox as it is well smart. Also you can customise it to your needs.

If you go ahead with it, I have some settings that you can change that make things go faster,etc.

It is also more reliable and secure than IE and also you don't get as many Highjackers of your browser.
