Inability to open Recovery Council

By Rahiendaishar

  1. After having not used the computer for a few day I received the following error:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I use Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

The boot CD which came with the computer is titled "Operating System" and Including Service Pack 2

I have set the boot order to read Floppy then CD then on board hard drive. Both the disk and floppy disks created using the appropriate program from the Microsoft website have failed to change anything, but they do delay the error screen and I can here them being read.

Any help at all would be most appreciated

Do you have the Windows XP Home installation disc? If you do, please post that information and I will tell you how to get to the recovery console so that your missing file will be put back in.

Sorry for this message. I accidentally performed a double post and cannot see how to get rid of this one.
