Wow, I've never seen this before.... This is just speculation, but I bet using the maxmem switch in C:\boot.ini would probably get rid of this error. It would be a really lame workaround though. In a nutshell, you'd be limiting your memory to less than 1GB.
Thanks a lot guys... specially givinseabrook... the link you provided led me to am Microsoft page... it has this patch... after applying it my laptop hibernates perfectly....
