  1. Hi! I keep getting this weird speed test result. Fresh vista ultimate 64bit installation! [IMG]

What could it mean? How do I begin to troubleshoot this? I have a 10mb connection.

Are you using some kind of weird proxy next door to speedtest.net hq?? :p

Have your isp put you on the new 50 meg service in error? :p

My advice is.. if you get similar speeds on other speed test sites.. SMILE!!

    OK. Here's a sanity check
    1. Here's a FrontierNet link to a Chicago based server
    2. Download and run a Network Meter. For each adapter, Net Meter displays
      • Current transfer rate (KB/s)
      • Maximum transfer rate (KB/s)
      • Total data transfer
    3. NOTE to anyone reading: Be careful to note speed unit of measure!
There is a difference between Kbs vs. kbs. Net Meter displays KB/s. When any speed test completes be sure to find the comparable KB/s value (don't use a kb/s value). For frontier net note both Kb/s and kpbs values are displayed toward bottom of window when done
(And hrlow2, I like your way of thinking!)
