instalation of third hard drive

    hi i am trying to add a third hard drive to my computer from my sisters old computer. it was her main hard drive and i am a beginer so when i installed it i think i got it right but is there anything i should do, where should i put the jumper. help!

    Okay, So its' your third, That means you must have it in this configuration. 1 HD in master on Main IDE cable,(the windows that your on) Then 2 HD on Slave. Then finnaly your 3rd new HD, which should be set as slave on your 2nd Ide cable, it shares the with the cdrom drive. Take out all jumpers on the new HD to be run as slave on 2nd IDE cable.

    hey sean um i have a problem my second ide plug is taken up in my second cd drive its a burner/dvd. any other ideas?

    then you can use the hard disk only as an external hard drive with an IDE to USB adaptor. You can buy them for about $20 off ebay. You will not be able to use it internally if all 4 IDE channels are used.

    Or just disconnect a cdrom drive, Disconnect the regular Cdrom drive, you dont need it.
