install video card problems

i am try to get a jaton 208pci-128tv card installed . first iam using a gateway e-2000 pc with celeron r cpu 2.00 ghs 40 gb hard drive 512 mb of ram. grahics controller 82845g intel r. i disabled the graphic controller and installed the card and load the drivers and that from the disk that came with it . then i enabled it . and restarted the system. it does nothing . iforgot i am running windows xp with service pack 2. what can i do to get it to work . need help
 
Don't take this the wrong way but did you connect the monitor cable to the new card?
 
Just in case, you should have unplugged the monitor from the old one and plugged in the new card while the computer was off. Then restart and let windows detect the monitor.
 
ensure the monitor drivers are also loaded. Yes - some monitors require drivers too!

I have an old gateway monitor I use with a home built system and it requires drivers in addition to graphics card drivers.
