installed cd writer

Just installed a cdwriter which works ok with nero, but i am unable to get any sound from it once i run music cd.


I have a DVD drive which is connected to the sound input to the mother board which i have connected the CD Writer to the other connector next to the DVD

any help

You need to connect the analog audio cable from the drive to the soundcard for analog audio. You have to "enable digital audio" in the device properties to make it play audio otherwise.

What Operating System? you tried taking the DVD out and trying the CD-RW in its place to make sure its all ok that way?

The input to which you have connected the DVD is labelled as CDROM in the Windows mixer but the one next to it might be labelled as something like "Auxiliary IN" or something.

Check to see if that entry isn't muted or if the sound level isn't all the way down.
