Installed windows xp pro but wont run without disk! what next?

    hi i installed windows xp pro. it installed perfectly. but when i restarted windows from getting updates from windowsupdate.com it kept restarting without booting up but when i restarted with the disk in the drive it started no problem. any suggestions anyone help

    This might not be your problem, but it's worth a look. Check in your bios, to make sure that the hard drive with xp on is the first boot option.
    The same thing happened to me after I did a repair install. The boot sequence had changed. I had to set it so that hdd0 was the first boot.option, then it booted without the disk. All the best!! :)
